    Are my updates installed ?

Hi all can someone please help.....

In my view update history I have about 96 failed updates.

I thought by re scanning and installing it would install them but it still says failed in view updates

When I look in my installed updates it looks like the ones that are failed are not there ( or at least I cant see them ) there seems to be less in the list than in the view update history.

Can someone tell me how to check if they have installed or if they will say failed for ever more ?

If they have no installed how can I install them ?

    Thanks for all help

download and run Belarc Advisor - it'll tell you if you're missing any security updates. www.belarc.com

The question isn't so much the failed ones - there can be a number of reasons for that - but if yu go to Windows Update and scan for Updates, does it find any more Important or Critical ones to install?

    Thanks for the reply.

I will try that as soon as I am back at that other computer. Its actually my work machine.

Once I get the failed update message windows will install more updates I have scanned now and have no more updates to install

In the view update history window they still say failed and I can not see them in my installed up dates windows

    Thanks

The Update History is just that - a log of all attempts to download/install updates.
Some files you won't see in the Installed Updates listing, because they aren't uninstallable.
Some files you may think are repeat downloads aren't - they are fresh MSE udpates (at least daily, if you have MSE installed).
If this is a work computer - do you actually have sufficient permissions to install updates? Check with your system administrator.

    Thanks for the reply.

Sorry its my own personal work computer.

So in the update history it will stay as failed ? IS it safe to say that if windows is not trying to download and install anymore updates that everything is now up to date and I can ignore that it says failed ?

So long as the update doesn't re-appear in the Windows Updates 'to do' listing, and WIndows Updates is functioning properly, then you'll probably find that it's also listed in the history as 'Success'
Like I say - check with Belarc, and see - it'll tell you if any of the important ones are missing, and which ones.
