I've searched in the c drive and nothing in the program files folders. I've never had anything like this happen before. I haven't moved anything either. Clueless!

Best to scan your system for malware.

What AV do you use. Run a full system wide scan.

Followup with a full Malwarebytes scan.
report any findings.

telephone activation (operator calls)
Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type
SLUI 4
and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you
Yep Noel this is what I had to do with an edition when the original mobo died and I transferred it (the activation) to a laptop.

I think SlartyBart mentioned a Malwarebytes scan and I can't remeber but SuperAntiSpyware is worth a try.
Malwarebytes < free one

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware! < also free one both are quick.

Right... that was silly of me.

John provided you with the links to scanners Malwarebytes and SuperAnitSpyware, scan with either

Then get some real-time protection on your system - pick one and only one. Running more than one real-time Av product can degrade your system performance and possibly cause other issues as they battle for supremacy.

They're all free and they're all well regarded

@Gulianvi

Start a NEW thread of your own, and post an MGADiag report....

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/Hardware.aspx

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Unless the status has changed since you posted this

Thanks for the responses!
You have the steps to correct the "Not genuine" if it surfaces again.

edit: my mistake - mixed up posts by two different members (elbygump & gulianvi)

Perhaps this thread should be marked solved and a new thread opened to work on the mysterious program disappearance. Your call elby, but someone following this thread for a "Not Genuine" issue won't be helped much by the other issue.

Noel: Isn't the Not Genuine issue moot at this point?
