OK - so the list is actually completely missing....
let's see what happens if we create the subKey

    REG ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\hivelist

run the command and reboot, then run the following command, and post the results from

    reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\hivelist
    reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\hivelist

    reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\hivelist

Great - one down, at least :)

Please do a manual check for updates - see what comes up.
UNcheck everything except KB 2667402 (if it still shows - it may not)
    and see what happens.
post the error message if you get one.

There is on;ly one way in Win7 :)
    Open Window Update
Click on 'Check for updates' in the top left corner, and wait for the checker to do its thing :)
Then you can either choose which updates (not) to install, or just click on Install. (if there are any found)
