Yes, I've never installed Office packages except Word Viewer 2003.

From Program&Features list I see only these two items:
    - Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office System.
    - Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003 (except some other office tools that come with Visual Studio)

    I'm going to uninstall both...done.
I'm going to check updates from WindowsUpdate...done.
No more updates available, the two office 2007 KBs aren't shown anymore.
All SID are still there, and also the GUID with zeroes.

So, do I need to install again Word Viewer? It isn't strictly necessary for my work at least now.
    About the GUID with zeroes?

(I don't know if this helps but in the past I've installed also Oracle VM VirtualBox and I've noticed it installed a new "virtual" network card, probably it installs also a new user account and so a SID...)

    Thank you

UPDATE: are the SysInternal tools useful in our case?

I have VBox installed here also :) (with VMs for XP/Vista/Win7 32/64bit)

I'd say that it's definitely not necessary - and you'd be better off installing a later version than the 2003 one anyhow (I think there's a 2010 one - but I haven't looked - and there may be a 201s one by now)

... SystInternals tools are always useful - but I think your problem is probably now solved with the uninstall of the Viewer:)

Office 2003 is in Extended support - so only Security issues are being updated, and it could be that the Viewer was EOL'd earlier than the main app (I can't find it in the table at Select a Product for Lifecycle Information )

Ok, no problem about Word Viewer.

Do you want to make additional tests about GUIDs and/or SIDs?

    Thanks

I don't think it's necessary - unless you hit any problems with Windows updates or other parts of Windows.

I have enough other threads in progress to keep me busy :)

Thanks for bearing with me!, and good luck.

    Hi NoelDP,

I've found a program that could help in those situations.

    Here is the link:

Interesting tool - I'm not sure I'd want to have to walk nayone through using it in a forum, but definitely useful on-site.
I may have a play with some of the other tools he seems to have created, as well.
    Thanks for the link!
