Good idea!
run a manual scan for updates, and see whether they install OK. - if not, post details.

Oh dear, dispair has set in!!! I though it too early with the self slapping of the back :-(
I turned updates back on and rebooted... 'it' informed me that there were two important updates to install.
I rebooted and it again failed to configure them and rebooted twice more with thew same results... unable to configure the updates and reverted the changes beofre eventually booting up.
I've attached a screen grab showing update history to dat.
So, sorry guys, back to square one
Trevor

Error Code 0x80073712 occurs in Windows Update or Microsoft Update should in theory apply - but we've already done that.
I suggest downloading SP1 for offline install.
Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center
You'll want the windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe download.
Hi Noel,
I did as requested, and tried to install service pack 1 only for it to fail :-(
I've also run the checks again and have attached the zipped CBS folder too.

The last line might well say there are no errrors, but there are three listed in the first Components Store and two listed in the second Component store?

That file is the archive history of all results - so you only need to look at the bottom one, which is clear.
