    Hi Tom,

Thanks for your response. I have done as requested.

    1) The system update readiness tool appeared to install without any problems

    2) I was unable to run the SFC scan, please see attached screenshot. I get the following error message : "Resource protection could not perform the requested operation"

    3) Whenever I attempt to use Windows update I get the following error code: Error 80073712 - please see attached screenshot

    4) Please see attached CBS file

    Thanks for your help

    Regards

    Hi Habeeb,

Thanks for the logs and files, they are very helpful.

I have to say, your CheckSUR error code is a very rare one indeed, and one that I've never come across before. I have my suspicions on what it references, but we'll have to double check this as I don't want to do something that could potentially harm your computer.

Could you zip up and upload the following file please:

    C:\Windows\system32\config\COMPONENTS

This is a registry hive that contains all of the information about Windows Update :)

    Hi Tom,

Please note that I have several files saved which are called Components (please see attached screenshot). I have zipped and attached the top file, I hope this is the one which you are after.

    Thanks

    Regards

    Hello Habeeb,

Due to the rarity or your problem, I think your best bet is to do a repair install:

    Repair Install

Sorry we've had to resort to that!
