SP1 Update Failing, Error 80070002 Hi All,
I have a users laptop that is failing to install SP1 with the above error code (80070002). WU is installing other updates so it appears to be a problem with SP1 rather than WU. Installing while logged in gives me the error code but if you hit shutdown then it just sits on the Configuring screen and the user has had to hard power off the laptop after a few hours.
I have a CBS log from running SFC /SCANNOW. https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resi...DYyd7tNJ8wHEqY
WU log from last week, I spent Friday (30th) working on it and then the log continues to date. https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resi...GPFbvJJZepjwak
Any help would be amazing! Unfortunatly this is a managers laptop so if I can avoid doing a rebuild that would be great.
Thanks!

Sorry for the stupid long delay... had a few problems.
I haven't been able to run the SURT as I can't download it at work at the moment. Another problem...
But I did run the SFC again and have zipped up the entire folder this time. http://sdrv.ms/URnkOq
And the error code is in the first post. Hopefully something can be gleaned from this! If I do manage to get SURT running I will let you know!
It did install another small update fine again today. I keep disabling the SP1 installer though.
Thanks! | My System Specs

I've uploaded a file - aimavxx.zip - to my SkyDrive at https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=936736BB8FCEB92F&id=936736BB8FCEB92F%21526
Please download and save it. Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all... Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
This should create a folder C:\aimavxx Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password. Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type DIR C:\aimavxx hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try DIR D:\aimavxx or DIR E:\aimavxx The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command... XCOPY <drive>:\aimavxx <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h run the command (it should take almost no time)and when the prompt returns, type EXIT and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows. Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your SkyDrive Public folder, and post a new link Also run a new MGADiag report, and post the result. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus K52F OS Win 7 x64 Home Premium (and x86 VirtualBox VM) CPU i3 370M Motherboard Asus Memory 8GB - finally :) Graphics Card it's an i3, dude! Hi Noel, I've copied the files over as instructed. However the guy is off on a business trip for our last week before the Xmas shutdown, so I'll run the scans when he's back in the new year.
Sorry for the delays and thank you for your help so far! I guess I'll talk to you in the new year, have a good one! | My System Specs
