KB 2753842: being offered again even though already installed Hi:
This is for my new DT (the laptop is offline at the moment, but I assume it will be the same story). Issue: I am being offered KB 2753842 via auto updates on my new Windows 7/64 DT, even though it was already installed with Patch Tuesday earlier this month.
(I have auto updates set to "notify".)
I understand that some systems ended up with broken fonts (and worse!) after KB 2753842 was installed with the December Patch Tuesday load.
Many folks uninstalled it & some had to roll back their systems, etc.
I did not.
In fact, I was in the process of setting up a new Dell DT system around the time it was released.
So, it was among the many patches needed to update the new rig.
It went in fine (before I knew that it was potentially problematic) and it seems to be causing no issues.
It is still listed as an installed update.
So, I'm a little nervous to reinstall it on my new, clean system ("if it ain't broke don't fix it"), especially since I've heard horror stories about BSOD and needing to roll back to RPs, and since it's already listed as installed.
OTOH, it's a security patch. So, I'm likewise reluctant to hide or ignore it. Questions:
1. Is this some sort of "patch for a patch"?
2. Is it safe to (re)install on a system that already lists it as installed?
3. Does it require a reboot? | My System Specs |

I installed the KB 2753842 patch on top of the KB 2753842 patch installed for Patch Tuesday.
I had to reboot.
No problems here on this Win 7 32 Bit OS.

Yep, apparently this was the "fixed" 2753842.
Updated both DTs and will do the LT when I next fire it up.
Thanks!
