New install onto SSD - Activation Error code: 0xC004E003

    Hi Everyone,

Recently my HDD died and my wife bought me a nice shiny Crucial V4 SSD (128gig).

I downloaded the windows 7 installation disk and reinstalled windows 7 onto the new SSD, everything went perfectly until i tried to activate it using the code off my pc case and i got the above error code.

I'm busy putting all the updates onto it now

    What can i do next

Many thanks for any help provided

You cannot use the OEM_SLP Key to activate an installation from a Retail/Download disk - you MUST use the Key from your COA sticker, or Proof of License label.

Change the Key to that, using the link at the bottom of the System properties page - you may need to activate by phone.

I know the feeling - I have 6 empty cases in the room at the moment :)

    Good luck.
