    Hi Louis,

Sorry, I accidentally left SF open last night when I was packing. I'm back at uni now, and my posts may become a little less frequent, but that depends on my workload, I really don't know at this point.

Could you zip up and attach this file please:

    C:\Users\{Your username}\AppData\Local\Temp\KB2729449.html

    Tom,

I understand. Your school work comes first as it should. When I went to the C:\Users\{Your username}\AppData\Local\Temp\KB2729449.html, the folder was empty.

    Hi Louis,

Thanks for understanding. Hmm, that's odd, let's have a look where it could be then

    System Look

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.

    • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
    • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
      Code:
      :filefind
      KB*.html
    • Click the Look button to start the scan.
    • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.

Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

    Tom,

Success. Sorry for the delay. Was away with my wife at the Doctor. The flu is rather rampant here.

    Hi Louis,

Thanks for the log, looks like I got the name of the files wrong, but at least they're there. Hope your wife gets better soon!

    3. Go to File > Save As... and save it to your Desktop named fix.bat. Make sure you change the Save as type to All Files (*.*)
    4. Locate fix.bat on your Desktop and right click then select Run as administrator

This will make a folder on your Desktop called tom982, please zip this up and attach it to your next post. If it is too big to attach, then Dropbox would be great!

    Tom,

For some reason I had a problem getting this as an attachment so put it in dropbox.

    Hi Louis,

Thanks for the logs. I've never used them before, but they're incredibly useful! Could you delete this file please:

    d:\2fd317f7c22fd99f53a7cf115ed04717\NDP40-KB2729449.msp

Then reboot and try to update again.

    Tom,

Sorry. I was heading to bed and saw your post. I'm not quite sure where the file is that you want me to remove.

    Hi Louis,

No need to apologise, it's fine by me.

Is this folder present on your computer?

    d:\2fd317f7c22fd99f53a7cf115ed04717

If it is, double click on it to open it, then scroll down the list of files and delete: NDP40-KB2729449.msp

    Tom,

I'm afraid that I have discovered some new problems. One problem is that the "windows search service" is turned off and troubleshooting failed to solve the problem. Secondly, for some reason I am not on a home network and can't create one, again troubleshooting failed to help me. I discovered this while trying to search for the folder and file that you had me look for. The never ending saga.
