    Noel,

I'm guessing we are at a dead end here. II believe I will give this machine back to its rightful owner tomorrow as this random update issue is the only problem that remains. Thank you very much for all of your assistance!

Sorry, Mark! - I got side-tracked again (to many threads, not enough eyes!)

I get the same results as you do (I should have checked it first!), and thinking about it, the file we need isn't there, anyhow!

The trick is to find the right ones, because the filename doesn't include the KB number - it's part of the XML code inside each mum file that we've uncovered.

I'm going to have to play with this - and it'll take some time, so that may be your best option.

I'm fumbling my way around to try and find a quick solution - the only one that springs to mind is a repair install (

    Noel,

I completely understand. You've gone above and beyond in trying to resolve this. As my friend's biggest concern was with the validation issue, she will be very happy to get the machine back with that corrected.

Should you happen to come across a solution at some time or another, I can always get the PC back from her.

Thanks once again for helping, it is very much appreciated.
