Nice thought - there may be a problem, though.
If the SD folder was successfully cleared suring the WU reset I recommended, that folder probably won't exist any more.
I seem to remember that the folder names are generated on-the-fly (semi-random?) during the download.
I'd have to set up a VM to test it - manana! :)

I would like to point out one other thing.
This laptop doesn't restart on it's own.
I have to manually restart it every time it's required.
It will force close everything out but then get stuck with the screen black, no shut down, no start back up. I always have to hold my power button down, etc.
Don't know if that would help at all...
Manual restarts don't sound very good to me, definitely a problem with the image on that machine.
Clean Installing Windows 7 with SP1 would be my first choice to fix this problem.
This version of Windows 7 was released awhile back and is easily downloaded online. Your Windows activation number will also work for this version.
A clean install can't be the answer for everything, it should be used as a last resort, not a first suggestion. It's much better for everyone, especially abusedkitten, if we go ahead with the fix and have a clean install as a fallback. A bit of CheckSUR and SFC here and there will do wonders.
