You have some file errors which will need repair before attempting anything else.
Your CheckSUR shows the following errors..... Code: Checking Component Store

I ran the update reset tool, but, as expected, it made no difference...same error message. A fresh install would be difficult at best...or at least extremely time consuming (re-installing the programs that would need to be re-installed...)...I would hope there would be a way to correct the update tool. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Homebuilt OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit CPU Q8200 Motherboard Gigabyte EP43t-UD3L Memory 3 PNY DDR3 2gb 1333 ram Graphics Card ATI 4850 1GB Sound Card Realtek ALC883 7.1 Channel High Definition Audio codec Monitor(s) Displays KOGI 19" LCD PSU 650 watt unknown brand Case Unknown (unbadged) full tower Cooling Intel CPU fan, 4" case fanX2, dual fans on PSU Hard Drives 2 Samsung 1tb, 2 WD Green 1TB |

I don't honestly know what difference it will make - but I'll post a fix for your CheckSUR errors in a bit, and we'll see what happens. to an SFC after that | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus K52F OS Win 7 x64 Home Premium (and x86 VirtualBox VM) CPU i3 370M Motherboard Asus Memory 8GB - finally :) Graphics Card it's an i3, dude! I've uploaded a file - celaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=936736BB8FCEB92F&id=936736BB8FCEB92F%21526
Please download and save it. Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all... Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
This should create a folder C:\celaa Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password. Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type DIR C:\celaa hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try DIR D:\celaa or DIR E:\celaa The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command... XCOPY <drive>:\celaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h run the command (it should take almost no time)and when the prompt returns, type EXIT and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows. Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply Then reboot again, and run the CheckSUR tool again, and post the new CheckSUR.log file. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus K52F OS Win 7 x64 Home Premium (and x86 VirtualBox VM) CPU i3 370M Motherboard Asus Memory 8GB - finally :) Graphics Card it's an i3, dude!
