You have some major problems in the background CBS logging - I'm uncertain what they actually mean.
I suspect that they relate to corruption in either the SoftwareDistribution folder or the Catroot2 folder.
Are you seeing any other symptoms?
Just in case it shows up a problem, please post an MGADiag report - we're looking to see if it produces a known error set, rather than at its genuineness (which should be OK, from your machine specs)

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/Hardware.aspx

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

after reviewing your log file i found some information here states the best and quickest way to fix this issue is a repair install. No doubt that I'm sure Tom knows exactly what all this means. I believe this is your update error.
    Code:
Failed to internally open package. [HRESULT = 0x800f0805 - CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE]
Here is a repair install tutorial.

You can try this or you can wait till someone experienced knows whats going on.

Just a thought, but any time I've had issues with Windows Update acting up it's been corruption in the SoftwareDistribution folder. I just back it up and delete it. Then reboot and run Update again. Works every time for me.

You can ignore that error if you ever see it, it's perfectly normal :) The real errors lie in one of the CBS persist cabinets.

Hello millworkpm and welcome to the forums

After reviewing your logs, it seems like there's quite a lot of errors. I would like to try to replace these files, so see if it makes the situation better.
