How can I hide updates?

It seems that quite often there's at least 1 in the batch each month that I don't think I need ( generally dealing with games or foreign language) & I'd like to be able to not have the "updates are ready, etc." always popping up.

I haven't been able to find a 'hide' option like there was in XP.

Right click the update you want to hide, select Hide Update:

oops, don't remember if I did actually do anything at the time of my last post ,so now need to ask: would hiding updates put them in the 'Optionals' or create 'Hidden' like it used to when I used XP? I have several sitting in my 'Optional' now & don't know if I put them there or if Microsoft did.
I'm beginning to think maybe I should tick the 'Automatically Download' instead of 'Notify Me' option since most of them are "over my head" in trying to understand the info that I read when I click 'More Information'.

Hello Grits,

Most likely they are new updates from this last Tuesday. Windows Updates come down every second Tuesday of each month.

When you hide an update, it's removed from the list of available updates to install.

Hope this helps,

Thanks guys.
Shawn, In your tut shots I noticed the different lanuages which reminds me of something I've always questioned: it seems to me that I've seen somewhere in my machine that something has downloaded umpteen languages besides English. I feel that they're just taking up space but don't recall having the option to exclude them in anything I may have downloaded. Is that a difference between the Ultimate & Home Premium?

You're welcome Grits. Glad we could help.

No worries. Windows 7 Home Premium wouldn't have the languages available in Windows Update since it doesn't include the feature to change your display language like Windows 7 Ultimate.
