    System Updater won't update

My Windows Updater goes to update, and returns the error code:

80070643: Windows update encountered an Unknown error.

I've done the registry fix that it suggested to fix the problem, but to no avail.

I've tried the automatic solutions checker provided in the help page, and it "fixes" things, but doesn't work still.

I haven't been able to install an update for over a yr now.

My system is Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit, but my program files are in Program Files (x86) folder... I also have the normal Program Files folder.

    Hi Rashmanadon,

May I know if you've tried the steps in this 'Microsoft article': Error codes?
If no, please do that and check results.

If the issue persists, please refer to the steps listed in this tutorial: Windows Update Posting Instructions

Do reply with the findings; would be glad to assist.

Hi, thanks for the reply, Uhm the sfc sscan gets to 94% before ending and doesn't go any further, then I get all sorts of memory corruption messages and have to reboot the computer.

The hotfix downloaded and installed perfectly fine, but still the updater won't update.

    Error Code I've posted...

And here's the CBS logs zip file

    There's some interesting errors there.
Please run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log file.

The essential error there is 'file not found' - perhaps your SoftwareDistribution folder is corrupted?

No idea, how would I find that out?

If the windows install cd was somewhere easily accessible I'd be tempted to just do a whole format lol so many damn errors all the time, but the laptop is over 2 yrs old n I wouldn't have a clue where all the original software is. Damn lack of organizational skills

New CBS log. Again sfc scannow froze at 94% with the error msg "Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation"

and as soon as I exited MSdos mode everything stopped responding. with "close now" or "wait for program to respond" options
