My laptop is having issues with Windows Updates..

For some reason, my laptop running windows 7 hasn't been downloading updates (besides Windows Defender) for the past week. I even did a system restore and it downloaded past updates and installed them. However, one update did not install and I got an error code 643. When it was configuring the update at start up, it seemed to hang at 32% then my laptop rebooted itself. I ran the update again (KB2538243) and it installed successfully. After that, my laptop hasn't been downloading new updates. Any help would be appreciated.

I followed the windows posting instructions to the letter and sfc scan found no integrity violations. Also, The System Update Readiness Tool just installed a hotfix and that was it. Am I doing something wrong?

Tom & Noel, would you consider adding the WU Troubleshooter (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting) and Fix the problem with Microsoft Windows Update that is not working in the post?

    This is a great reference.

Diagnose first - then attempt repair :)
The Fixit is not appropriate for many things.

... I wish I'd read the logs *before* posting that last! - both SFC and CheckSUR logs are clear, so we have to look elsewhere.

Which updates are currently failing? What happens if you attempt to do a manual Check for Updates?

I agree. diagnose, then repair... on the other hand.... eliminate the easy solutions first also applies in by little red book. I only thought, that it would be helpful to include "standard" window fixes in the same place as the diagnostic tools.

Regarding the CBS file. I don't know if you just did the findstr command on the file, but there are a number of errors in the CBS log dated 2/8 @ 17:36

I'm no expert in CBS or WU, but that looks pretty bad to me. Prehaps WU needs resetting.

    I'm out - good luck.
Noel and Tom know their stuff - you're in good hands.
