    error code 66A

Hello and I have read, searched and went with the recommended fix and no go. I have 3 import. updates that won't go, on a laptop with 7 installed. Googled 66A and says to go to repair "microsoft NET framework 4 client profile" in install/uninstall. I did, restarted and same issue. I tryied to update in safe mode w/networking and this function is disabled. (a microsoft thing) I have scanned for rootkits, viruses and nothing found. (with different programs)

    What to do?
    Thx, DM

    update

I ck'd and they are 3 netframe 4 updates that need to be installed.
I manually downloaded the updates, for my X64 machine. Get a message
"not applicable...or blocked by another condition on pc".

    Now the unsolved mystery...."what condition"?

My solution would be to uninstall .NET 4, then reinstalall and update it - if necessary, using a Clean Boot procedure to do so.

    What was yours?
Did you find out what the 'interfering software' was?

    New Information

I recognize that this is an old thread, but I had the same issue even if it was with a new version of M$.Net.

So I came across this thread when dealing with a similar issue, and did a reinstall. What I discovered was the original package file that was used to install .net 4.7 was missing. I had deleted it out of my downloads. I think that the problem was that to make the changes from the update, it needed the original install files. So I downloaded the full install, did the repair/install, but made sure to put the package on a disk that I only keep for archive purposes on that computer, so that it wouldn't be deleted. That way it should prevent this error from coming back in the future. After I did the reinstall, I still had to install the update. Thought I would pass this information on, since I just updated MY procedures to ensure that when installing a full version of .net, to make sure it is in a folder that is not deleted.
    Thanks!
