7601 Windows 7 Ultimate. Running since April 2011.

    Code:

    Purchased from Amazon.com April 23, 2011.
Nothing changed. Worked in the morning, not in the afternoon. Retains full functionality other than updates. Has black desktop with nag in bottom right corner. Microsoft no help. Told me I had a hardware problem and then told me they could transfer me to a service tech that could fix it FOR A FEE. WTF???? Wish I could fix hardware problems over the phone.

I speak under correction, but I believe the key is an MSDN one, which can never be sold/resold. It looks like you were conned, which is a real risk when buying off Amazon.

I'd like a second opinion on this, so please wait for a reply from NoelDP.

I fear you may be right. Have seen other post suggesting the 068 was an MSDN key. Had hoped not. Been running it almost 2 years. Odd. Will wait a little until I get a confirmation and see what Amazon has to say. Spent LOT's of money at Amazon over the years, this is the first problem ever. Order filled by MyBestBuyNow. 500 reviews...no complaints. WTF?

    Just saw this for MyBestBuyNow

    STORE IS CLOSED

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, this store no longer appears to be active. Sincerely, The System

    Golden is correct -
The Key in use is an MSDN Key from a not-for-resale MSDN account.
Unless you are an MSDN subscriber, you are not entitled to use the Key – and whoever sold it to you was not entitled to do so.
You need to claim an immediate refund from the vendor - do NOT accept the offer of a new key (all they are trying to do is to get past the 45-day claims window or avoid you sending the evidence of their crimes to the authorities)

Please read the following posts.... .................................

The pirates have got VERY good at this over the past few years, as the price of equipment for manufacturing the packages drops, and as factories open in less well-policed countries.

Outstanding information here though some links in the older Docs no longer work.
Filled out the Counterfiet report and when sent in I at least have a chance to get a complimentary copy.
Appreciate the great information here and sound advice. Thanks to ALL that answered. You are a FINE bunch of people. MS says 4 to 6 weeks....will keep you posted.
Once again, thank you ALL very much.
