How do I remove "This copy of Windows is not Genuine"

A couple of days ago, my laptop which is a few months old, started showing the message on my desktop Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not Genuine" and was asked to validate my Windows. My Windows 7 was pre-installed by the manufacturer and I do not have a key to validate it ? I have not had any issues with it so far. I have double checked for any malware etc, no viruses present. I checked other forums and saw the "removewat" option but I didn't want to risk doing this as my copy is genuine thank you for any help !

You should have a COA sticker on the bottom of your laptop or under the battery, with your key. No laptop is sold without one.

Thank you - I believe it is an Enterprise version - in which case, I will not have the product key ? (I don't have a sticker etc)

Your Welcome and.... Welcome to the Forums

If someone sold you a laptop with Enterprise Edition on it or no COA, take it back for a refund.
Enterprise Edition is not sold to the public and by law the laptop has to have a COA on it. :)

I would take it back just to show them the not genuine message.

Thanks for the welcome :) I find these forums the most helpful. OK, I ran a Microsoft Windows Diagnostic and did a reboot .. and the message disappeared about the Not Genuine Windows (yayyy). Now I have read up what my laptop came with and all it says is Window 7 Home Premium (nothing about enterprise, my mistake - I thought maybe it was as I initially purchased it for home small business). Now I am running SIW to see if I can find out my product key # .... as it says everywhere on Lenovo website that you need to activate your Windows - but how to do that with no product key provided !

Found a product key number that starts with 27GBM-XXXXX etc etc .. does that sound correct? If so, how do I now "validate" it with Microsoft so I don't ever get that message again ?

Just go into computers properties and see if windows is activated.

    start>right click computer>properties

Check to see if windows is activated and at the top it will tell you what windows version you are running.

Yes, it is activated - says so in SIW as well. I can see a
    Windows Update's version number 7.6.7600.256

    Does that sound right ?

Not sure what is causing that not genuine windows message I hope I dont get it again - it was annoying getting that pop up every 5 mins!
