    Unable to update various...

    Howdy all

I have, in my possession, a laptop which has stopped allowing updates. The code it shows is 8007002. I have read & tried a couple of fixes, to no avail. I have also noticed that it will not update iTunes and more recently java updates. Are all 3 connected? Or are they individual errors? This next bit is important. Pay attention. The laptop with the faults is my wife's. I'm getting ear ache. It's difficult for me to get hold of, so a response from me may be sporadic.

    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi Noel

I tried to follow the steps as per your instruction. At the command prompt, after "sfc /scannow" has been entered, I get "Windows resource protection could not start the repair service". My command prompt reads "C:\Windows\System32>"

Part 1: All seemed to enter fine & the Hotfix installed ok.
    Part 2: As above.
Part 3: Error code is 80070002
    Part 4: Log collection (attached)

    hope this is correct.

The 80070002 error is a 'file not found' one - but without the CBS data, it's difficult to tell what files are missing.
The CheckSUR reports no problems found - but it only checks a subset of the files.

The Event logs may help here.
Please copy the System.evtx and Application.evtx logs from the folder C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs to your desktop, then compress them and upload then to a reply.
