Hi Tom. I tried to do the repair install like your link said. Wasn't able to do it, brought up an error and keeps saying upgrade cancelled. I attached a screen shot of what the error that came up looks like.

Hmm, that's odd. I guess it must be to do with the vast amounts of missing registry keys. As these are Windows Update registry keys, the repair install must be getting confused about what's installed and what's not. I hate to say it, but I think the only thing left now is to go for a clean install:

Sorry I couldn't have been of more help, but there is really no other way.

Ok. If I do a clean install will I lose most of my programs? Or is there a way to keep them?

A repair install will keep all of your software and files however, as that has failed, we have had to resort to a clean install which is essentially starting from scratch. You will lose all of your files and software, so make sure you have everything backed up before going ahead with it.
