Hello Sarah,

Thanks for the CBS log, there's definitely some improvement there. Can you run the System Update Readiness Tool again please, then upload the log as before:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Hi Sarah,

Great, we've cleared out all of the issues in the CheckSUR log, now to finish off with the CBS log.

SFC Scan

1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Hi Sarah,

Once again, sorry for the delay. Life is, vaguely, back on track now :)

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop
2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/16537616/SFCFix.zip

3. Save any open documents and close all open windows
4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip
5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it
6. SFCFix will now process the script
7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFC.txt
8. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V} the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text

SFC Scan

1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt

You seem to be getting Access Denied errors on those two files still.
Please run the following commands, and post the results.

DIR C:\Windows\background.bmp /AR /S
DIR C:\Window\img0.jpg /AR /S
DIR C:\Windows\background.bmp /S
DIR C:\Window\img0.jpg /S
DIR C:\Windows\background.bmp /S
DIR C:\Window\img0.jpg /S
ICACLS C:\Windows\background.bmp /T
ICACLS C:\Window\img0.jpg /T

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.
