KB2767916 fails error 8007066E, won't install manually either

I'm having trouble with an Office update installing through Windows Update. If I try it through either Windows Update or by manually downloading the KB and running the installer, it fails. Also, it keeps telling me that I need to shut down to install updates and when I do, it tries (and fails) to install only this update.

I've tried all the MS solutions (Mr. Fix It, etc) and nothing has helped so far.

    Code:

Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2767916)
    Installation date: ‎2/‎19/‎2013 7:08 PM
    Installation status: Failed
    Error details: Code 8007066E
    Update type: Important
Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites . This update provides the latest fixes to Microsoft Office 2007 suites . Additionally, this update contains stability and performance improvements.

    Info attached.

FYI - My original post followed the instructions I found via Google at the address below. That page should be updated with the more complete information you linked to:

You must be using an SSD? - 3+ minutes for an SFC scan is pretty good!

Do you have Office 2007 or 2013 installed (or both??)?

Please do a manual check for updates - I suspect that this is a flawed detection mechanism, rather than a failure on your system.

I've tried manual checks for updates and that doesn't help...the same KB2767916 shows up every time.

An odd thing to note: when I shut down, it tries to install this KB (and fails per the log). If I open Windows Update after booting again, it doesn't show the update again until I manually check.

Also, as noted above, I also tried downloading and installing the update seperately from Microsoft Downloads and the installer fails with a non-descript error ("The installation of this package failed.").

I have Office 2010 and Visio 2007. I'm assuming the "Office 2007" is because Visio 2007 is installed.

And yes, all my computers have SSDs...hard to go back to conventional HDDs once you discover the speed

In that case - simply hide this update, as it's designed for cross-compatibility between Office 2007 and 2013 applications, and doesn't apply to your situation.

Ah got it, so the fact that this update is even showing up for me is a bug?
