    Hi,

That error code is usually associated with the Windows Firewall. What firewall software are you using? have you customised the configuration?

    regards,

    Hello There .....

Im using the standard windows firewall .... just some applications blocked, nothing related to the system.

But it's kinda strange ... what a DX update has to do with firewall !!!

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt, and post the results.....

    NET START BFE
    SC QC BFE
    NET START BITS
    SC QC BITS
    NET START WUAUSERV
    SC QC WUAUSERV
    NET START SPPSVC
    SC QC SPPSVC
    NET START SPPUINOTIFY
    SC QC SPPUINOTIFY

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

The ..422 error normally indicates a disabled service - the ones I asked you to test are all the ones involved with the Windows Updates service except the most important one (which I forgot!)

    please run the following commands...

    NET START TRUSTEDINSTALLER
    SC QC TRUSTEDINSTALLER

    post the results.

    Here's the result.

    C:\Users\Hidamen>NET START TRUSTEDINSTALLER

The Windows Modules Installer service was started successfully.

    C:\Users\Hidamen>SC QC TRUSTEINSTALLER

The error in the second command is my fault - a typo. (since the service started OK, we can assume the settings are OK as well)

Since all of them appear to be OK your updates should be functional unless you have other problems.

The KB2670838 update appears to be a pre-release version - at least from the Downloads page - rather than a general release.

It installed into my VM without any problem - running dxdiag, I get a simple DirectX 11 on the front page - as for an un-updated system
