    Activation Code Question


    Excuse me if I am posting this in the wrong forums.

    I was wondering if it is possible to get my version of windows activated on the same laptop because I had to get a new HDD and I installed my old version of windows back into it (Windows 7 Home Premium) and I used my product key. Or do I have to go spend some money to get a new code? Not to rush people but I got 2 days before I can't activate windows. (Starts today)

    Hello Clank, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    Yes, you will be able to activate Windows 7 with the product key number on the COA sticker on your laptop. It'll either be on the bottom or under the battery. If you are unable to activate online as usual, then you could do a phone activation.


    An OEM copy of Windows 7 is permanently tied to the motherboard of the computer.

Hello. Our school gave each student a laptop. On the bottom of my laptop, there is a sticker that has an activation code for Windows 7, but the computer is actually running Windows XP Professional. What do I need to buy or download to get Windows 7 on my laptop? I don't think there's anything...
