I've received this request from MS, via 'sources' :)

    Code:
    >This topic regarding Platform Update for Windows 7 (KB2670838) is a specific compatibility issue with certain GPUs, primarily AMD+Intel mobile hybrid/switchable graphics solutions with particular driver versions. Microsoft is actively working with AMD and Intel to address this issue for customers.

Thank You Noel, I appreciate your efforts.

Here are our dxdiag.exe, and x64dxdiag.exe summaries: Attachment 257666; Attachment 257674

Our machine seems stable except for that problem with IE9/IE10 requesting a file to D/L'd through the browser and not showing all of the folders in Libraries\Pictures.
So, I'll hold off until I hear from you, and/or if I see an MS update I'll post here.

Our machine is pretty much stock. The latest Intel HD grapics update information is included in this file. I had to save it in Unicode-8 or else I would have lost the Update details. I can save it in another format if this gives you problems opening: Attachment 257669

With apologies to the "Bard"; To install or not to install that is the question!

An excerpt from one of my posts: Webpage and download errors in IE10
The biggest problem I'm having is using IE10 while trying to post here on 7F.

When I'm trying to insert a link the link insert box opens okay, but when I paste a link into it the OK/Cancel buttons disappear.

When I want to upload a file only 7 of the 26 folders I have in "My Pictures" appear, none that I need to get to. And various cursor, highlighting problems too numerous to mention.

Sounds like a DirectX problem doesn't it? I'll check it again, the diagnostic checked okay the last time.

The pages look okay and I get around okay, it just seems to be with any editing.

    FireFox 22. works okay
The biggest problem is the missing folders and I didn't have the disappearing buttons the first time I tried IE10.

System is fully updated to the best of my knowledge.
    The pre-requisit KB2670838 is installed
Here's my first post: I finally ran into a problem with Platform update KB2670838 and IE10

I've looked high and low and can't find anything about whether or not IE10 has been fixed to install after the AMD graphics cards/chips problem, and as far as I know I don't have any AMD on my machine.

    Here is the Belarc Report:
    Code:
    Display:
    Intel(R) HD Graphics [Display adapter]
    Gateway HX2000 [Monitor] (19.9"vis, s/n C180C0014001, November 2009)
I hope you have some insight Shawn.

    Hey Steve,

I have the same issue with inserting links with IE10, and had to press the right arrow key and pasting to have it jump to the end to see the buttons. For whatever reason, it wasn't auto scrolling.

Not sure about the rest. You might see if you have the latest video drivers install. If you do, then you might see if either uninstalling/reinstalling them or trying a different version that this worked in before.

Thanks Shawn, I'll check out the tip about the "right arrow key".

As for the latest video drivers, I pretty sure I don't have the latest and greatest, but when I revert back to IE9, IE9 works. No editing problems, and I can see all my folders in Library/My Pictures.

Wasn't kb2670838 | A platform update is available for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 supposed to take care of all that?

It's a dilemma about the missing/ hidden folders issue,
Other suggestions missing from the referred threads,
One was to simply rename the folder the files were in/ subfolder inside "My ...." and test,
Another was to drag one of the folders to your desktop and test/ rename if necessary.

I have a Gateway computer so it's possible Mcafee was pre-installed/ was in my case,
And with sorted issues through the first couple of years of use I finally did a fresh install and scrapped all of the junkware and haven't seen any issues since,
Both have Intel chip sets one 64 bit Name Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset
32 bit computer Name Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
No issues with the referred windows update.

Our Gateway came with Norton, and I found another way: Solution to missing Folders using IE10 with Windows 7

I'm getting ready for a clean reinstall: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
