Many thanks for this Noel. Details:
AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4170 Black Edition 4.20Ghz CPU
Asus Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard
Asus EAH6770 1024MB GDDR5 graphics card with Catalyst Version 13.1
Windows 7 Ultimate
When I install the Platform Update, both IE9 and Firefox 19.0 crash immediately when starting.
I discovered a workaround for Firefox on the Mozilla wibsite. If you start in safe mode and disable hardware acceleration then Firefox works fine. Interestingly enough, the same workaround works with IE9. If you go into Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced tab and at the top tick 'Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering' then IE9 works fine too.
Again many thanks.
