Windows 7 License Question
Ok, this is a bit convoluted so bear with me please.
I have a total of 3 legal copies of Windows 7. 1 in use on my current PC, and 2 still in the wrapper in the closet. All 3 are OEM's.
I will be upgrading my current PC in about 3 weeks. Motherboard and CPU, keeping the Hard Drive and Windows install. I will be moving my current parts sans Hard Drive, to a new PC and installing Windows 7 on it.
I understand that a Windows 7 license is tied to the Motherboard when it's OEM.
What I want to do is this;
I want to take one of my unused licenses, and put it on my current system, with the new Motherboard, then take my existing license, and use it on the "new" computer (same parts its licensed to now) when I install Windows on that computer.
Is this legal? Will this even work? I don't want to have to call Microsoft and argue over moving an OEM license to new Motherboard.
I figure if the license is tied to the Motherboard, and since my existing Motherboard will be reused and my current license is already tied to it. Should be fine.
Thoughts? Opinions? Something I'm missing?
All input welcome. TIA.
