Please post the CheckSUR log - the tool can actually repair a number of the affected files.

I'm sorry but I do not know if I need to run this tool or if it runs during installation. The logs show no errors. Do I need to do something more?

I do want to point out that when I installed SP1 initially there was no error and it did say successful. And in System it did say Windows 7 Professional SP1. It was only after I rebooted to a "Last Known Good Config" that my PC no longer thinks it is there but Windows Update shows it installed successfully and the KB is in the Uninstaller. But when I tried to install IE 10 it said I needed SP1. Don't waste too much more time on this. I use Chrome anyway and Firefox is my backup. It's just annoying, you know? I appreciate your time and help very much, though.

Since the DISM you ran has dumped a load of data into the CBS.log, please post the new log file

CheckSUR runs - it uses the TrustedInstaller service to do so, hence the 'Installing' interface - and compares mostly the Manifest and Packages files (.MUM and .CAT) with the registry entries and its own internal history, and makes any necessary changes if can, and logs errors that it can't fix. once it's finished 'installing', there's nothing else to do except analyse the log. In your case, it found nothing amiss to either log or process.

Thank you for the explanation. This is a little above my skill set. I wish I knew how to read these diagnostics myself. Here is the new log.

Hey, just letting you know. I reran the Windows Update just now and it came back with a bunch of Net 3.5.1 updates as well as the SP1 update and a few others; 11 in all. I'm gonna go ahead and click install and see what happens on reboot. Not sure if that affects what the log results are saying.

Quick update. All is well. Before when I went to Windows Update it said Up To Date. But after running the CheckSUR (even though it said no errors), I reran Update and SP1 and a bunch of other things I already had in the past popped up. Took forever to reinstall but it's all looking right and proper now. Thanks for your help Noel. I don't know if the CheckSUR had anything to do with it or not, but I'm set straight.
