The default setting for those three services is.
Windows Error Reporting Service - Manual
Windows Event Collector - Manual
Windows Event Log - Auto

If they aren't being kick-started appropriately by the system, then that indicates a problem.

Looking in the Event logs - this is going to get complicated!
Back tomorrow with what I can make out from it.

ou have anyI think I may have found a root cause - or maybe even two!

Please copy the file
C:\Windows\System32\catroot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\ntph.cat

to your desktop, and compress it, then attach it to a reply - I suspect that it's corrupted.

Please also run the following commands

ICACLS C:\Windows\System32\catroot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\ntph.cat
DIR C:\Windows\System32\catroot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\nt*.*

and post the results.

There is also a boot service failing - XiaobaiFs
This service appears to derive from the driver XiaobaiFsForXp.sys - which is being blocked by Win7 as being incompatible.
Do you have any idea where it came from?

It seems that you are spot on! I tried copying this file to desktop but it failed, even in safe mode. I have attached the printscreen here.

By the way, here is the report.

As for xiaobaiFS, it could be a chinese download program that I have installed in the past, I thought I have uninstalled it already but the driver is still there...

Seems likely to be a bad sector on the HD - I thought we'd run a CHKDSK already, but checking the thread, it seems not....

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories

Right-click on the Command Prompt entry

Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the ElevatedCommand Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

CHKDSK C: /R

and hit the Enter key.

You will be told that the drive is locked,

and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, pressEnter, and then reboot.

The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive,so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possiblyafter a second auto-reboot) -

After the reboot, go to Event Viewer and navigate to the Windows Logs
open the Application entry in the left pane, and find the latest entry from the Wininit source - that should be the CHKDSK result.
double-click on the list entry to open it, and click the Copy button - paste the data to your reply.

You have three bad sectors (4KB each) - which implies that your drive may be on it's way to the great computer in the sky.
BACK UP NOW!
The drive may decide to fail tomorrow, or it may last months or even years - but it WILL die, and you run the risk of losing data in the process.

Please run these commands and post the new results

Cross your fingers, and do a manual check for updates.
Then UNtick all updates, and only install the oldest one found...
