Mum not found in the KB cab

    Hi all,

CSUR checked the following are missing, however, going into the downloaded packages, there is no such mum/cat.

    eg.
    It looks for: Package_for_KB2726535~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.mum
Only available in cab file: Package_for_KB2726535_rtm~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.mum

However, renaming it and put into C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSUR\servicing\Packages will crash the CSUR with BSOD.

Any idea where can I get those mum/cats?

    Thanks

Hello 65c02 and welcome to the forums

Great job for getting this far, but this was a tough one - every single one of those missing packages are what's known as the default package. They are in the cabinet file however they aren't named as such, instead you will find them under update.cat and update.mum and they will need to be renamed accordingly. To save you the time, I have extracted all of the files that you need

    Windows Update Package Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

    1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
    2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
    3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
    4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
    5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

      C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

    6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

      C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

    7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
    8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

      C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

You will probably be shown the error code 0x8024200D after performing this fix, if so, please download and install the updates from these links. They must be downloaded using Internet Explorer.

    Hi Tom982,
Thanks very much for your great help!

In fact before there was 23 mum missing, after reading the posts, I manage to put most in by extracting the packages (thought I put them in C:\Windows\servicing\Packages directly...), except those default packages that I have no idea where to get it.

After I put them all to
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

and run SURT, now it shows them fixed!=================================

    Hi 65c02,

    No problem, happy to help.

How did you put them directly in the Servicing folder? It's best to get the System Update Readiness Tool to do it as you won't have to worry about resetting permissions.

If you are still getting Windows Update errors, please provide us with this information: Windows Update Posting Instructions

Please run an SFC scan and post the resulting CBS.log file

    SFC -System File Checker -Instructions

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories

Right-click on the Command Prompt entry

Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the ElevatedCommand Prompt window should pop up.

    At the Command prompt, type

    SFC /SCANNOW

    and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages -and then reboot.

Copy the CBS.log file created(C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate itdirectly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your reply

Interestingly I attempted to use my usual SFC repair method to fix a CheckSUR mum/cat error earlier today elsewhere.
The result was that the SFC errors were fixed, but the CheckSUR error wasn't, and had to be fixed the conventional way

That's odd, it's worked when I've tried it with robocopy before There's nothing special about the files so it should work with xcopy, you sure the OP didn't do something wrong?

Looks good to me, both you and the OP. I've got a few things to sort out now but I'll see if it'll work in my VM later :)
