    If you think that's mumbo-jumbo - try reading the WindowsUpdate.log file! :)

Just the one file needs fixing..
    Code:
Line 14585: 2013-03-29 10:19:45, Info CSI 00000328 [SR] Beginning Verify and Repair transaction
Line 14588: 2013-03-29 10:19:45, Info CSI 0000032a [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"mfc80JPN.dll" of Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC, Version = 8.0.50727.1833, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope neutral, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b}, Type = [l:10{5}]"win32", TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch
VC80 files are a pain to find - and I don't have this one handy. I'll go on a hunt for it, but in the meantime, please have a go with IE10.
With any luck it will install now.

I am talking to you using IE10! It worked. What a marathon. You are amazing. I was going to take this machine down and try to reinstall everything. The list is over 30 programs, including all the Visual Studio Tools, many extensions to them and so on. You have saved me days and days of work.
I think you're still going to propose another file update, so I'll await that, but I may not be back on for a few days, since it's a long weekend here in the Toronto Ontario Canada area.
    Thanks, later. Phil

Marathon? - I don't start thinking in those terms until we get to post #100 :)

    Glad it worked for you

I'm still having trouble sourcing that vc80 file
