Windows Update error 780 - leading to Blue Screen Crash

    Hi Team,

I am unable to update my windows 7 64bit home premium, due to the above error mentioned.
Went through the steps of help below, but I cannot find SQL Server VSS Writer program installed in my system, please let me know where to find this program to download and install it. Due to this update issue i'm seeing the blue screen crash of the OS. Please help me out how to resolve this issue.

    Windows Update error 780

If you receive error 780 when you try to install Windows updates, Windows was unable to start the SQL Server VSS Writer service. To fix this problem, follow these steps.

Check the SQL Server VSS Writer service startup type
    Click to open Administrative Tools.

Double-click Services. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Right-click SQL Server VSS Writer, and then click Properties.

On the General tab, make sure the Startup type is set to Automatic or Manual.

If the SQL Server VSS Writer Service Startup type is already set to Automatic or Manual, follow the steps in the next procedure.

Review the SQL Server summary log
Open the SQL Server summary log to determine which other services can't be started. The log is located at:

    %programfile%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\Log\Hotfix

For every service listed in the log file that didn't start, follow the steps under "Check the SQL Server VSS Writer Service startup type" above, replacing SQL Server VSS Writer with the service listed in the file.

    Error codes this applies to:

    WindowsUpdate_780

    WindowsUpdate_00000780

    780

    0x00000780

    Hi Noel,

I've visited the link mentioned above, downloaded the installer SURT version as per my OS. But the installer had thrown an error saying that the "installer error 0x8007000d". Googled the error, seems the installer is not proper(I think corrupted), so could you please tell me where i can download a proper version and go for the debug steps mentioned above in the given link.

The system is crashing now and then with the blue screen error whenever i watch any movie videos.

    Regards,

Invalid data errors can be the result of a number of things, including failing hardware, and malware.
Please proceed with the SFC scan and update the logs you can get - it may give us somewhere to start.

    Then
Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM PRO' at the end of the installation - and update it, then run a full scan in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

    Delete everything it finds
