windows update and system restore failure.
Can anyone help please?
About a week ago my win 7 business PC automatically downloaded updates including SP1 I think. However, we then had some problems using flash on some cloudbased business systems we use so having associated these problems with the time of the update I carried out a system restore to before the update. Then my problems began.......
since carrying out that I can no longer use a number of programs which result in error messages such as "Fatal error at initialisation msml.dll" In addition I can no longer even open Microsoft Update or System restore and many Control Panel apps don't work either (eg. the System command, the Users command, The Microsoft Update command within Control Panel all result in nothing happening at all).
So now I can't use the pc for my business programs, can't do a system restore and can't do a new Microsoft update.
I assume that by doing the previous system restore i somehow messed up the system but don't know how to get it back.
Nuclear option us uninstall everything and do a restore factory settings (if that works!) but that will take me a day to do and get everything reinstalled so want to avoid if possible.
Any suggestions? Does anyone know how I can do a Windows update without using the update program?
Thanks for your help.
