Windows Update 'not running' when it is set to

Hi,

I recently installed windows 7 onto a new Asus G75VX laptop to replace the windows 8 it came with.

After finally solving driver compatibility issues I have found that windows update is not working.

As per the posting instructions I downloaded the correct SURT but when I went to run it it I got 'installer encountered an error: 0xc8000222'. I don't know if this is a related or separate issue...

I have included a screenshot and the log collection file.
Thanks.

Hello Foulksie, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Double check using the tutorial below to make sure that the services below are enabled and set to "Automatic". Afterwards, see if you are able to check for and install Windows Updates.
Services - Start or Disable

  • Background Intelligent Transfer Service
  • Windows Update
Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi thanks for your responses.

As per brink's post I checked it the services were set to automatic. Windows update was set to automatic- delayed, which i left and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service was disabled. However, setting it to automatic did not fix windows update.

As per NoelDP's response, here is the results of the Farbar Service Scanner:

Start the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" service as well to see if that may help.

If not, then see if using OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to completely reset Windows Update may afterwards.

Check if you are able to access Windows Update service and also make sure that the following services are started. If it is not started follow these steps:
a. Click on Start, type services.msc without quotes and hit Enter.
b. Locate Windows Update.
c. Right click on the service and select Properties.
d. In Start-up type, select Enable.
e. Click Start under Service status.
