    Try changing your product key to the one found on the COA sticker on your case then activating by phone :)

    No it isn't, it's perfectly legal: Dell OEM key, Dell SLIC table, Dell computer with a BIOS date well after Windows 7 was released - doesn't get more legal than that! :)

    The key is leaked, yes, but it's an OEM key so it's completely worthless without a SLIC table :)

    SLIC tables can be copied to other PC's by flashing with a modified BIOS. If enough illegal PC's are out there Microsoft will blacklist the Product code. The PC will still activate but it will fail the WGA check and you'll get a not genuine nag popup. That's likely why this PC has failed the check. If you contact Dell they may give you a new BIOS and or new install media that will fix it. As you mentioned though, using the code on the COA sticker will fix it too.

    The machine was constructed over a year before Windows 7 was launched - as such there is no way that it could possibly have a Windows 7 SLIC table.
    The SLIC version in the BIOS is for Vista, not Windows 7.
    The machine shipped with Vista installed.
    A Windows 7 OEM_SLP license cannot be used for upgrades.
    The installation is counterfeit.
