Do you want me to pass this onto the more help thread?

Just out of interest how old is the machine - out of warranty? if not then get it fixed by them.

Let me know what you want to do.
Machine is approx. 4 years old... I'll see if warranty still applies.

johnss001,

Is KB2670838 installed on your system? Not having this installed can cause IE10 reinstalls to fail.

I had attempted to install this last night through the Microsoft download center and upon installation it stated that it was not applicable. Yes, I did download the correct version.

I did install SURT (KB947821) as it was one of the first steps in the pinned article for this forum.

I believe that IE10 installation automatically downloads and attempts to install that update if necessary - but I'm not sure.

NoelDP,

The last time I tried to install IE10 without KB2670838 (fresh install, Windows 7 Ultimate), the install failed. I had 2670838 saved on a flash drive...installed it manually, rebooted, installed IE10--the install went without a hitch. So johnss001, I would recommend downloading 2670838 and installing it manually. If that update's not on your system, it can't hurt, right??
