    IE10 Update gets Error 9C95 and 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSIN

    Hello,

first I have already followed this post:
    Windows Update Posting Instructions

    Code:
    =================================
    Checking System Update Readiness.
    Binary Version 6.1.7601.21645
    Package Version 18.0
    2013-04-20 13:05

    Checking Windows Servicing Packages

    Checking Package Manifests and Catalogs

    Checking Package Watchlist

    Checking Component Watchlist

    Checking Packages

    Checking Component Store

    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 30563
     No errors detected
    Enclosed the CBS.log.

I have tried nearly all I have found for these errors, but nothing solved it.
As far as I understand, the SP1 is installed, but the update tool cannot find it, or something like this.
Also it could be a problem with the installed language packs, but I could not uninstall or install it again.

You are my last chance, I really do not want to do an inplace upgrade on this productive machine.

    Thanks a lot.

    Ciao
    André

Here is the complete CBS folder attached.
The other file in the post before only contains the cbs.log file.

There is not usually much downside to a repair install, apart from having to reinstall 100+ updates.

I can see no SFC results in the past few days - the log from yesterday starts out OK until it hits the following error...

Unless Tom can think of a better solution, I would recommend doing a repair install, using SP1 media.

Ok, so I will do so, but where can I get a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Image?
I only have the original CD without SP1.
Is there the possibility to download an ISO from Microsoft?

That's a good question! - the answer must be 'not as far as I know'
You could try contacting MS to see if they will ship a copy (for a nominal fee)
If you have a Volume License, then it should be available from your normal source.

Tried a Inplace Upgrade last weekend, but I have not enough disc space
The partition C is 122 GB and there are 60 GB free, but ist seems that Windows wants more.

That's unusual - an in-place upgrade usually only needs around 20GB.
It may be complaining about permissions, or it may be complaining about the System Reserved partition rather than the C: partition.
I'll ask Brink to have a look.

Hello Gitarren, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since an in-place upgrade (repair install) creates a Windows.old folder with a copy of your current installation, then that would be why you may not have enough space for both the new installation and the Windows.old folder.

    Ok, this explains it.
Is there any possibility to use a second partition during repair installation?
The windows installation on C: is a bit more as half of the space of C:.
So I never can manage this to work.

You could do a clean install to start fresh after backing up your files to another location, but you wouldn't be able to do an in-place install to another partition.
