    Windows Activation Issues

    Hi Guys,

I'm having problems activating Win 7 after doing a Win 8 downgrade on my laptop. At first I thought I would be able to use my Anytime Upgrade Keys but I guess you can't use them do do a clean install so at that point I started looking at Product Key Extraction Tools. All the ones I have tried return the same Product Key so I assume it's valid. When I try to use this key to activate it does not work. I hate to think that the only thing standing between me and a successful downgrade is a stupid product key. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In order to completely troubleshoot Windows validation & activation issues, please perform the following:

    1. Download and save this tool to your desktop:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

    2. Run the tool, and then click 'Copy' - ignore any errors if they appear

    3. Use CTRL+V to paste the unedited results of the validation tool here in your next reply

The key you're using belongs to a Dell . Please use a legit Windows 7 Pro key for your laptop

    hhhhhmmmm

So I need an OEM key is that what you're saying. There is no legit key for this laptop because it came preloaded with Win 8 and I want Win 8 gone. One other question why was I unable to do the install on my desktop which is an Acer when I used it's product key.

A computer is licensed ONLY for the version and edition of Windows with which it was shipped, unless you purchase a suitable Full license, or an Upgrade license.

Downgrade options are only available through the manufacturer - and usually only at time of purchase.

You will have to either revert back to the Windows 8 the system came with, or purchase a legitimate FULL license for Widows 7 and install that.
