    Deploying IE10 for Windows 7 from WSUS - Error: 0x80070643


    Hi

    We use WSUS 3.0 and have recently manually added Ie10 which has been sent to a few test users.

    It appears looking at the windows update logs it tries to install IE10 but fails daily with the error code 0x80070643

    Hello TheThinker,

    Looking at your IE10 log, this catches my eye:

    Code:
    00:02.542: WARNING: Checking version for C:\Windows\System32\api-ms-win-downlevel-user32-l1-1-0.dll.  The file does not exist.
    I really have no idea how to fix this, that's a really difficult file to be missing because it's one of the files that's hidden by the Windows API, not just by Hidden or System attributes.

    I'll ask someone for a second opinion and get back to you!

    My carefully-crafted response just went down the drain due to dropped connections - TWICE!!
    <GRRRRR!!!!>

    I can't find any entry in either the file system or the registry for that file as quoted

    However - the line that you quote is only a 'Warning' rather than an 'error'
    There are a larger number of 'error' lines in the !E10log...

    I feel your pain, I've lost a ~3000 word PM before There's a great FF/Chrome addon called Lazerus which I now use: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...form-recovery/

    If you close the tab by mistake, or whatever, just right click on the form and click Recover Text, job done :)

    I suspect in that case that they are part of a monolithic dll, like the old user32.dll vmm32.dll (?) in Win9x, which gets rebuilt often.
