    The CheckSUR result is normal for IE10
    The only icon created is in the All Programs menu - where it replaces the two from IE9
    What does concern me, though, is the other errors that have cropped up in the CBS.log...
    They involve not only KB976933, but also KB976932, which is Service Pack 1 itself.

    I suspect that these originate from this error...

    Forgot to say I do not have an all programs item and still have a x86 and x64 version of IE, in program files and program files(x86) respectively, both at version 10

    The two versions of IE still exist - but they are both launched using the same shortcut from the Start>All-programs listing....
    C:\Users\<userprofile>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

    If/when required, the 64-bit shell launches 32-bit daughter-processes to actually do the work.

    Hi Noel,

    This is what's in my user start menu. No IE?

    Did the previous response results make sense?

    cheers,

    Hi Noel,

    I have also noticed that the IE 10 install is not showing in the installed updates from Programs and Features, nor is there an entry for IE in the turn windows features on and off dialog. the only place its mentioned is in the windows update history and it's still coming up as an important update.

    It all seems very odd.

    regards,

    Anthony

    On my Installed Updates listing, if I sort by Name, it's the second from bottom update - "Windows Internet Explorer 10"

    It sounds almost as if the installation is complete apart from the tidying-up that Windows does after the reboot.

    Please run the following commands and post the results.

    These are my last items on installed updates... All to do with IE8? No mention of IE 10

    Thanks for being so patient...

    Very odd - There are updates for IE8 still showing, which should have been hidden when IE9 was installed!

    I hate to say this, but you may need to uninstall both IE10 and IE9, and then do a repair install, and update the system again.
    I'll see if anyone has any better ideas.

    Hi Noel,

    As I have no uninstaller for IE 10 should I use this command
    For IE10
    Code:
    FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*10.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"
    For IE9
    Code:
    FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*9.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"
    Do I need to do anything about the IE8 updates?
    I found this through the MS Answers site the user was trying to uninstall IE without the standard uninstall and...
    used the resolution for IE9 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2579295 with a modification in the value for version 9 to 10. I tried the resolution manually to remove IE10. Then I used resolution http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833. Thereafter IE9 started working prolperly (sic)
    They then ran SFC /SCANNOW to fix any remaining issues. What do you think?

    regards,

    Anthony
