Windows updates issues - Code 80070643

    I'm using a Lenvovo T510 Thinkpad, Windows 7 x64.

I started to have issues with updates two weeks ago, tried everything, Fix It, SURT, clean boot etc etc etc ultimately I backed up and re-installed windows but still haven't resolved the issues.

Currently I need to an update to Windows updater which fails.

Error code 80070643, SURT found no integrity violations. CBS zipped folder attached.

I will be eternally grateful if you can help me.

You have a large number of STATUS_RM_NOT_ACTIVE errors in the CBS log. (outside the simple SFC results)

    **Back up first!!**
Once you are backed up, see if this helps

    Open an Elevated Command Prompt
Copy and paste the following command to the prompt

    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
    attrib -r -s -h %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\TxR\*
    del %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\TxR\*

If you are asked for confirmation, type Y and hit Enter

    Close the window and reboot.
Try Windows Update again, and let us know exact error messages, if any.

    Update

Thanks for the update, I tried your suggestion.

I've attached a copy of the command prompt output.

I got the same error after re-booting and trying updates again.

Remove the asterisks from the commands and try again

    Update

Apologies on the asterisks, I'm an idiot.

I entered the suggested detail within the elevated command prompt (see attached file), restarted and tried updates again - same error code.

    Please post the following files

    C:\Windows\Windowsupdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log (you'll have to copy that to the desktop, probably, to be able to zip and/or upload the copy)
