    Persistent 80072ee2 error

    Hi,

I'm experiencing from a fresh install of Windows this error (80072ee2), preventing me to launch Windows Update.

Uninstalling Bonjour services did not help.
Microsoft Fixit application for this error doesn't do anything.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the Ethernet drivers, still no luck.
My firewall is the built-in Windows one.
The registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate does not exist on my machine.

I don't know what to do now :/

    Got a workaround: install a Wi-Fi Dongle.
That means my integrated network card is completely botched as Windows Update did not work even from a fresh install without any driver besides the network driver installed!

    Why does it happen?

    It could be hardware failure.
Have you checked your device manager for any problems?
Have you checked your system time and date are set properly?

There weren't any problem with the device manager and the time was set properly.
After having installed the updates via Wi-Fi and the latest drivers for my NIC from Realtek's website, Windows Update worked then again via Ethernet, without the need of my Wi-Fi dongle.

Quite strange behavior of my hardware.

Networking drivers are very fussy - and frequently require updating before Windows can properly recognise the hardware and utilise it.
