System Update Readiness Tool is Not Working

I had a bunch of viruses on my computer. I think I got them all off with assistance, but Windows Update hasn't run for a long time. I attempted to download the system update readiness tool for the X64 version of Windows 7, but when I clicked the installer a dialog box popped up that said, "This update is not applicable for your computer." To further complicate matters, i'm almost totally blind and use the Jaws screen reader, so I have a hard time getting the error codes. If you'd like I can run the update again, but I need to know how to get a screen shot other than taking a picture with my camera, which would not work.

I called a tech support company and they did a diagnostic using remote access, and the lady said I had a bunch of corrupted and missing drivers, and the only way she could fix it was to download a bunch of advanced tools, and for that I had to purchase a package of at least one year of support, which I couldn't afford. I'd like to do this myself without having to get my harddrive wiped. Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm running the first reset you sent now, or I think it just finished, but I need some clearer instructions of how to get a screen shot. I know how to upload attachments on a vBulletin forum, but I can't use paint or any of those other programs that work with pictures because I don't have vision. Have you got another way? Thanks. Oh, also, since I have no vision, i also have a habit of using the computer with the monitor off. Will this effect the screen shot?

I'm going to try to run the update now and see how it works.

Okay I can't get Paint to open, but here's the screen shot, hopefully. i found out how to capture it and copy/paste it, but I have no idea if it will talk to me.

I have no idea whether that pasted or not, as it's not talking to me.

My apologies, I took being totally blind as an euphemism. My bad. There was no image posted. I'm sorry I'm not sure how you manage the PC, so not sure how to advise getting a screenshot. Generally in paint you paste the image from your notepad, then save to desktop for instance, then attach that using the forum, or an online site like tinypic. Hope that helps as you are way beyond me in operating the PC without vision. A Guy

Oh boogers. Yeah, i use a screen reader called Jaws for Windows. I found the keyboard shortcut to get a screen shot. I don't have Paint, so I just came back to the forum and hit control plus v. The bad thing is that Jaws won't let me select the error codes it gives me to copy and paste because I have to use the Jaws cursor to read it. Bah and grrrr!! I'm looking for someone to do remote access who knows what they're doing, but I'm having trouble finding someone who won't charge me an arm and a leg, lol. Not trying to sound like a jerk when I say that, it's just that being on a fixed income sucks, and I'm not a fan of reformatting, although that may be what I have to do.

Windows comes with paint. However you search, paint in the start menu search box and enter will open paint. A Guy

I just tried that, and hit dead air. All that came up were some files that had that word in the name. I also tried all programs, and hit dead air again.
