Having problems with one particular update

I have installed KB2656351 over 50 times and its successful every time but every time I close my computer down it re-instals it again. It takes ages to shut down my computer. Can anyone help?

Check you update history and see if those KB's are noted as installed successfully. If they are successful then the next time they are offered just right tick on them and choose hide.
Reboot again and then check Windows Updates again and see if your settings stayed and that the two KB's are not offered.

If you search these forums you should find many threads about these two updates being installed over and over. I would suggest installing .NET 4.5

That installation should uninstall .NET 4.0 and the updates related to .NET 4.0.

After installing .NET 4.5, manually run the Windows Update tool and install the updates for that version.

You are welcome.

In case someone finds this thread and just must have .NET 4.0:
I have "fixed" this issue on a few computers using MS's version of this...
Windows Update - Reset
...but there really was nothing wrong with the Windows Update process. Those two updates are the problem. Once .NET 4.5 became stable, I started using it as the first thing to try and resetting the Windows Update process as the second fix - if needed.
