windows update KB2690533 will not install Error 800B0100

    Hello,

I am unable to get this update to install. I have tried the fixit tool from MS, as well as the readiness tool. I have tried other tips from the Ms website and it still wont install. I tried the stand alone version of the update as well and nothing. Could someone help me to find out whats wrong?

(almost) All Windows Updates come in both 64-bit and 32-bit versions - this one is here.... MS12-033: Vulnerability in Windows Partition Manager could allow elevation of privilege: May 8, 2012

Ok, Downloaded readiness tool, went to run it and it says that this update will not work on your computer.

The one you should have downloaded - assuming your system is 32-bit - is named
    Windows6.1-KB947821-v27-x86

What is the EXACT error message do you think you get when attempting to run the tool?
It's obviously run fine - there are three records, two from 29th June and one at 10:22 on 2nd July :)

There are no unusual entries there.

However, the CBS.log file shows that there is apparent corruption in the SoftwareDistribution folder.

    Open an Elevated Command Prompt
    Run the following commands

    NET STOP WUAUSERV
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
    NET START WUAUSERV

    wait 15 minutes, and reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.

Install only the oldest update found - and reboot once installed then go back to Windows updates, run a new Check for Updates, and install the others.

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.
