    Sorry about the delay...
I *think* this will work... :)

    I've uploaded a file - cddfix.zip - to my SkyDrive at https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=936736BB8FCEB92F&id=936736BB8FCEB92F%21972
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Save it to the default location
This should create a file cddfix.reg

Now open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command

    REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
    (wait for the success message)

Then right-click on the cddfix.reg file, and select Merge
Accept the warnings, - you should then get a 'Success' message.
    Close all windows, and reboot.

The run the CheckSUR tool again (there's a new version out - you should download a fresh copy!) and post the new CheckSUR log

    CheckSUR is now clear.
Please run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log - we'll see if anything has changed there.

Hmmm - there's nothing significant there that I can see.
Please upload the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file and I'll see if I can puzzle it out.
What's the current error code when you attempt the WU install?

I assume that you attempted the install from WU? Please try downloading the Service Pack for manual install -
Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Centre

You can either create a disk, or extract the ISO using WinRAR or similar

yes, I tried from the WU. I tried your link and the one you called out, but it wouldn't run on my computer, I have 64-bit installed. I tried the one in the attachment and got a similar error message as from the WU.

Sorry - I pointed you at the universal installer, rather than the x64 file...

    windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe (on the same page)

Looks like you got the right one.
Please post the new WindowsUpdate.log file, and the CBS.log file - I'll see if there's anything there.
