I think the problem is that the zip file is 10mb? I'm not sure how to fix this ?

The CheckSUR file is 10 MB? - or the whole CBS folder? - I only need the CheckSUR.log file at this point.

Let me explain what our current problems are...

1) You have four files which CheckSUR says don't match their S256 hashes - the hash is stored in the registry - and the files we've attempted to use to replace them also don't match, despite the fact that they are fine on my machine, and the hashes match so far as I can see,
2) You have four missing files - we can deal with those easily (I hope)
3) You have three C-mark deployment entries in the registry - which is what I thought I'd fixed with that last exchange of the COMPONENTS file.

Did you reboot before running the CheckSUR?

I thought I did! I'll try it again later today. Replace the file, reboot, run checksur, and post components again.

Ok, replaced the file, rebooted, ran checksur, rebooted, here are the checksur logs.

I can run CheckSUR from the original file download right? I just noticed a seperate checksur file within C:\Windows

Still the same error
I'm not sure why, unless you copied the files to the wrong place?

run the following commend, and we'll see :
DIR C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSUR\WinSxS\Manifests /S

post the results

Lets try fixing the file errors while we're at it....

I've uploaded a file - sd9ab.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\sd9ab
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\sd9ab
or
DIR E:\sd9ab

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\sd9ab <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g.XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time)and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your SkyDrive Public folder, and post a new link

Also run a new MGADiag report, and post the result.

What is/ how do I run a MGADiag report?

Also, in your instructions where you post your example following the XCOPY command, why does your original have D:\sd9ab and your example have D:\wfire?

Each file I post is personalised for the person involved - I don't bother changing the example

Ignore the MGADiag report request - I more usually use that boilerplate in solving WGA/non-genuine problems and forgot to delete the last line
