I did all the updates using more restarts than requested. Then checked FileHipo and found a Flash Player for Firefox. Got updates from Malwarebytes Anti Malware.
Shut down and a restart. Checked again for updates and download and installed Microsoft MSR Tool. All in34 min. So far no problems.
I really don't know what they changed in Microsoft Security Essentials.
I didn't look because I was going to install it one way or the other.
On you grandpa computer it took a little over 2 hours.
    Love my Intel 510.

Thank's for the mention of Flash for Firefox.
I guess Mr. Secunia PSI was too busy with other projects to bring it to my attention !

I've been meaning to ask this for awhile now but keep forgetting until it's too late. I have several updates hidden & wonder if they should be unhidden & installed before I do any new ones? I hide them because I wasn't sure I really needed them.

Adobe adopted several months ago the same "Patch Tuesday" schedule as MS for routine updates for all their products.

There are both Shockwave and Flash Player (all browsers for Win and Mac) updates today.
Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe
There will be a new version of Adobe Air (3.8) tomorrow.
(I didn't get anything offered yet on a manual check for updates for Reader XI or Acrobat X, but YMMV.)

PS Back on topic - no problems with 18 patches on one Win7/64 desktop. About to tackle my other 2 rigs.

I had FileHipo on my previous machine but it would not work on this one for some reason.
It installed fine, when I clicked on the icon to run a check, it did nothing, would not pop-up, just disappear.
    Anyone else encounter this ?

referring to a the post about all the hidden updates, I would install them all, except for IE10, that is up to you, I always install all my optional updates that have to do with Windows 7

If it was my computer I would not install the video card update if I didn't have any problems with the video card.
You could also go to Nvidia website and find out what the update does and decide from there if you want it.
I install all Microsoft Windows 7 recommended updates.
Important and optional and most recommended.
Any thing concerning a 3rd party (Nvidia) I investigate first.
